Another
Group winner to Danewin
OCTOBER,
2007: Rarely a carnival takes
place anywhere in Australia
without a son or daughter
of Danewin featuring in Group
company and this talented
breed was again to the fore
in the Group 3 MRC David Jones
Cup at Caulfield.
A
2000-metre event contested
on the Caulfield Cup undercard,
the prestigious Pattern Race
event witnessed a determined
staying performance by Fire
in The Night (4g, Danewin-Duchesse
De Berri, by Diesis) to score
by a short-head in a slogging
finish.
Trained
by Grey Eurell at Cranbourne,
Fire In The Night was recording
back-to-back victories and
now boasts the record of five
wins and three placings for
earnings of just over $250,000.
A
happy winning trainer said
immediately after the win: “I’m
very happy with that. There’s
probably a few options for
him now, so we’ll
have to look deeper into
the book. Today was a little
bit of a test to where
he’s
at but he’s
come through it well.”
Fire
In The Night is one of
three
winners sired by Danewin
from three daughters of Diesis.
In addition, Danewin sired
the stakes-placed nine-time
winner Bushra Gem from
a daughter of Kris, a
full-borther
to Diesis.
As
a further illustration of
this successful line of breeding,
Ashraf, the Emirates Park-bred
winner of the 2007 Grafton
Cuo (LR) is a son of Danehill
from the imported Diesis
mare Dis La (USA).
