MAY 2007: Danewin could soon be celebrating his third individual QTC Queensland Derby winner and fifth individual Group One Classic winner going on the resilient staying performance of Theseo (3g, Danewin-Ozone Sands, by L’Enjoleur) to win the Group Three QTC Premier's Cup over 2200m.

A 3-year-old pitted against a field of seasoned stayers, Theseo burst right into Queensland Derby calculations with a narrow but impressive success from Game On, with short-priced favourite Mandela a close-up third. Significantly, the minor placegetter was a brilliant winner of the Geelong Cup during his spring campaign in Australia.

The Premier's Cup success of Theseo proved to be the gelding's second victory in stakes company. The handsome chestnut claimed the Listed AJC Dulcify Quality Handicap over 1800 metres at the beginning of his 3-year-old year. The son of Danewin also placed in Listed events on two occasions as a juvenile.

Theseo was purchased for $120,000 at the 2005 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale by Gai Waterhouse and races in the colours of Star Thoroughbreds. Connections intend to back the tough stayer up in the Group Three QTC Grand Prix Stakes (2100m) on June 2 before he takes his place in the Group One QTC Queensland Derby (2400m) the following Saturday.
