Summer Cup success for Danewin

JANUARY 2007: The seasoned Queensland performer Mitanni (7g, Danewin-And a Hug, by Ivor Prince) became the seventeenth stakes winner for resident stallion Danewin when winning the Listed Summer Cup over 1400m at Corbould Park on the Sunshine Coast.

Already a multiple stakes placegetter of close on $430,000 before his latest assignment, Mitanni recorded the fourteenth success of his prolific career when running out a clear-cut two and a half lengths winner.

A $30,000 yearling sale purchase back in 2001 when offered by the Atkinson family's Furlong Stud, Mitanni is now on the threshold of registering $500,000 in earnings from 49 career outings with his latest victory taking his prizemoney total to a figure under $9,000 of the milestone.

Danewin has long since been established as one of Danehill's leading sire-sons at stud with a remarkable ratio of 18.65 percent black-type horses to named foals. Emirates Park will offer two youngsters by the stallion at the 2007 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, the same venue from which County Tyrone graduated before registering his three individual Group One successes.
