Half-sister to Sepoy born at Emirates Park
SEPTEMBER 5, 2011: Emirates Park's Bryan Carlson has confirmed the birth of a healthy half-sister to the 2010/11 Australasian Champion 2YO, Sepoy. The bay/brown filly was born at 8.10 pm on Sunday night and is a daughter of Darley's Victorian-based stallion Domesday produced from the Danehill (USA) broodmare Watchful.
"She is a big, strong filly with plenty of scope and is very correct," reported Carlson. "His Excellency Nasser Lootah and the team at Emirates are very happy that Watchful produced a filly to continue the family." Carlson added: "Watchful will this season be covered by Australia's current champion sire Lonhro."
So far in her stud career, Watchful is the dam of three named foals, two to have raced, both winners. Her newborn arrived just a day after the latest success of her star performer Sepoy, winner of the Group 2 VRC Danehill Stakes at Flemington last Saturday. Sepoy's record now reads 7 wins and over $3 million in prizemoney from less than 12 months of competition.
A Sydney placegetter at 2-years, Watchful is a full-sister to Group 1 QTC Queensland Derby winner Camarena, herself the dam of Group 1 winner Camarilla. Both Watchful and Camarena, as well as the proven sire Untouchable (by Danehill), were produced by Canny Miss, an unraced half-sister to the exceptional racetrack and stud performers Canny Lad and Canny Lass. |
