Sydney 2YO winner for Al Samer
JUNE 9, 2010: The Emirates Park-bred and -raced Hyami gave her sire Al Samer his first Sydney metropolitan victory when winning on a midweek program staged at Canterbury Park.
Trained by Chris Waller for His Excellency Nasser Lootah, Hyami was quick to break in the 1100-metre maiden handicap before racing in the first three throughout the early and middle stages. Come the top of the straight, the home-bred juvenile kicked to a clear lead and was safely holding her nearest rival on crossing the finishing line first.
Hyami was produced by Fawayez, a winning daughter of Royal Academy (USA) and a half-sister to the Group 3 MRC Blue Diamond Prelude winner Faiza. Third-dam of Hyami is Par Excellence, winner of four races including the Woodbine Canadian Oaks (Can-1).
In recent weeks, Al Samer has forced his way into the top-10 stallions on the first season sires listing based on individual 2-year-old winners. Hyami was the Emirates Park (Vic) stallion’s fifth winner in Australia and sixth all told, the son of Redoute’s Choice having also been represented by a winner in Korea. |
