Rapid-fire winners for Al Samer

MAY 31, 2010: Al Samer was represented by his fourth and fifth individual 2-year-old winners within a 24-hour period when Magnetosphere and Al Jandar won Maiden Plates in Tasmania and Victoria respectively.

On Sunday afternoon, Magnetosphere was sent out a $1.90 favourite of an 1100-metre contest staged in Hobart and had little difficulty landing the prize by a comfortable one and three-quarter length winning margin. The juvenile filly had placed at all previous six outings and is now the winner of over $33,000 in stakes.

Al Jandar proved to be the emphatic winner of the first event conducted on the Ararat card on Monday. Best to begin and always in the firing line throughout the contest, the first-crop son of Al Samer forged away from his opposition over the closing stages to post a four and a quarter length victory.

Al Jandar was a $27,000 purchase at the 2009 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale and is now raced out of the Robbie Griffiths stable. Produced by the Flemington winning 2-year-old filly Cica Cica Boom, he carries two lines of Bletchingly in much the same fashion as Magnetosphere and Al Samer’s first-ever winner, Custom Design.

Also featuring in Al Samer’s first crop to race this season is the stakes-placed winner Mr Chard and the overseas winner Choegouigippeum.
