Al Mahers feature on SAJC Derby program
MAY 2, 2010: Majestic Music posted the fourth Group victory of her decorated career when scoring a thrilling victory in the Alan Scott Stakes at Morphettville on the SAJC Derby program in Adelaide.
In an event that witnessed the outstanding 3-year-old daughter of Al Maher pitted against seasoned open-class performers, Majestic Music produced a brilliant late finishing burst to hit the lead close to the line and post the sixth win of her career.
Majestic Music's latest victory took her earnings to over $750,000 from just 16 outings. Significantly, all six of her victories have come in black-type company, her Alan Scott Stakes triumph being her first against proven older gallopers of both genders. In winning the contest, Majestic Music defeated the likes of Baughurst, Dr Doute‘s, Amberino and Raffaello, all previous winners in notable Group company.
Fellow Al Maher first-crop member Bint Maher proved to be the first filly home in the Group 1 SAJC South Australian Derby on the same afternoon, finishing just out of the placings in fourth position.
A stakes-placed 2-year-old last season, Bint Maher was among the leading combatants all the way down the Morphettville straight before finishing less than a length behind the winner, Kidnapped. |
