Seymour double for Al Maher

JANUARY 21, 2010: Al Maher’s number of individual 3-year-old winners continues to swell with the flourishing sire-son of Danehill (USA) enjoying another two maiden successes on the January 21, 2010, program staged at Seymour in country Victoria.

One of the leading stallions on the 2009/10 Second Season Sires listing, Al Maher has a number of exciting Autumn Carnival prospects among his 3-year-old offspring and both of his Seymour winners could also come into contention.

Race 2 on the Seymour card went the way of Club Ha Ha, a gelding sent out the $2.20 favourite of the 1000-metre contest. Never worse than third in the early stages, Club Ha Ha quickened well up the fence soon after straightening before winning in good style under a confident ride from Craig Newitt.

Lady Mahler, winner of Race 4, was equally as impressive, never racing further back than second position at any stage of the contest and virtually having the race in her keeping at the top of the straight. The filly started the event as a $1.45 favourite and never gave her supporters a moment of concern.

Club Ha Ha and Lady Mahler are members of Al Maher’s first crop, an exciting group of horses that also includes the likes of multiple Group winner Majestic Music, the Tasmanian Derby (G3) bound Kinnersley, as well as the likes of Salinas, Lady Gaga, Bint Maher etc.

On the Second Season Sires listing of the current season, Al Maher is holding down second spot based on number of individual winners with his 2009/10 tally now amounting to 24.
