Home-bred posts class record
NOVEMBER 30, 2009: Home-bred More Than Ready (USA) colt Bandar set a Randwick-Kensington class record at his latest outing when posting a conclusive two-length victory under a perfect ride by 2009 Melbourne Cup winning jockey Corey Brown.
Fitted with blinkers for the first time in his nine-race career, Bandar stalked the leaders of the 1800-metre contest until straightening for home, before producing a sustained finishing burst down the centre of the track to win with consummate ease.
Bandar was saluting for the second time in his promising career, having won at the same circuit in August over 1300 metres. The dark brown 3-year-old colt has also placed on three occasions and was generally deemed terribly unlucky when finishing a close-up fifth in the Group 3 NJC Spring Stakes in September.
Raced in the familiar red, blue and white colours of His Excellency Nasser Lootah, Bandar is from a dual Sydney metropolitan winning daughter of Dinky Flyer (by Balmerino), one of the leading female performers of her time. Dinky Flyer’s nine career victories included success in the Group 1 AJC Queen Elizabeth Stakes, proving effective from 1200 up to 2200 metres.
Dinky Flyer’s full-brother Rajamah was also a racehorse of considerable merit. The winner of 11 races from 1200 to 2400 metres including three Cups of Listed Race standard, he also placed in an AJC Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1), AJC All-Aged Stakes (G1) and AJC Chipping Norton Stakes (G1).
Be My Bride, dam of Bandar, produced a colt by Al Samer in 2008 and recently dropped a colt by Al Maher on the sixteenth of this month. |
