Edward Manifold win for Al Maher filly

OCTOBER 2009: Al Maher’s outstanding first-crop daughter Majestic Music added another feature event to her impressive winning record when proving too good for a smart field of Melbourne 3-year-old fillies in the Group 2 VRC Edward Manifold Stakes (1600m).

A last start winner of the Listed SAJC Lindsay Park Guineas in Adelaide, Majestic Music was given a patient ride towards the tale of the field until the home straight where she secured an inside passage. The final 350 metres witnessed Majestic Music making steady leeway to take charge of the contest before scoring by three-quarters of a length.

Co-trainer Andrew Gluyas was full of praise for the daughter of Al Maher immediately after the race and identified the Group 1 MRC The Thousand Guineas as her next mission. “For her to come out and do what she did is just fantastic for the stable,” claimed Gluyas. “In three-year-old company, she’s really come out and flowered. The plan has always been to go to the Thousand Guineas.”

Significantly, Majestic Music was posting the biggest win to date for the first-crop of Al Maher over the same course and distance as her sire realized his most major success. Al Maher, of course, was a memorable winner of the VRC Australian Guineas over the same metric mile at Flemington back in 2005.

Majestic Music races in the same colours as Serious Speed, winner of the Group 1 MRC Thousand Guineas in 2007. Both Serious Speed and the dam of Majestic Music are confirmed bookings to Al Maher this breeding season.
