Motown Lady bags her maiden victory

SEPT 9, 2009: Motown Lady broke through for her maiden victory when winning a 1350-metre contest staged at Doomben at her first outing as a 3-year-old. Sent to post a rank odds-on favourite at her first outing since January, the first crop daughter of Al Maher made no mistake, winning the contest by a comfortable length and a half.

Motown Lady was one of the first of the Al Maher progeny to show above average ability, winning an early barrier trial at the beginning of her juvenile season. Of course, the Gold Coast-based filly went on to run an exceptional third in the 2009 Magic Millions 2YO Classic, finishing under half a length behind the winner Phelan Ready.

In winning on her racetrack reappearance, Motown Lady became the sixth individual 3-year-old winner of the new racing season for her extremely promising young sire, Al Maher. The stallion’s other winners since August include the dual Melbourne metropolitan winner Salinas.

Motown Lady is from the four-time winner Suburban Blues, a daughter of the celebrated broodmare influence Bluebird (USA). Her second-dam, Residential Status, is a Melbourne metropolitan winning daughter of the Habitat stallion Habituate.
