Salinas remains unbeaten
August 29, 2009: Al Maher 3-year-old filly Salinas remains unbeaten after three career outings.
At her latest appearance in public, the Peter Moody-trained daughter of Al Maher was sent out a short-priced favourite of a 1400-metre contest restricted to the fairer sex and ran out a courageous winner. Salinas had also proved successful at Flemington in her first start as a 3-year-old, and at Seymour on her 2-year-old debut.
As with her previous outing, Salinas raced handy throughout her latest assignment and did more than her fair share of work from start to finish. Asked to take the field up to the leaders on rounding the home turn, this bonny filly responded in outstanding fashion and found the line in courageous style.
Trainer Peter Moody was full of praise for Salinas in post race interviews, claiming: “She knows how to win.”
The established Caulfield-based trainer added: “No horse worked harder than her in the run. She’s a good, tough, courageous filly.”
Moody identified the Listed SAJC Morphettville Guineas as “probably a nice race for her” next time out. He also predicted a strong showing in longer races when she campaigns during the autumn.
Al Maher was also represented by third placegetter Yule Luvit in the very same contest. In fact, of six first-crop runners by the stallion to have raced on Saturday, all but one either won or finished in the placings. |
