More winners for Emirates Park duo

August 16, 2009: Mahmentum became the fourth individual 3-year-old winner of the new racing season for Emirates Park resident stallion Al Maher when winning a maiden event at Cranbourne in emphatic fashion at the colt’s first appearance in public.

Sent to post a well supported $3.80 third favourite, the debutant virtually made all of the running in the 1200-metre contest, eventually passing the winning post a four-length winner after turning for home with a huge advantage over his opposition.

This latest winner by Al Maher was bred and sold by Emirates Park. He is from an unraced full-sister to the Group 1 winning Kiwi racemare Upsetthym (NZ). This internationally performed family includes the celebrated Epsom Derby winner and notable sire Slip Anchor.

In USA, Easybaby became the latest winner for Eavesdropper (USA) when winning an 1100-metre Maiden event at River Downs by more than two lengths.

After racing on the speed in the early stages, Easybaby showed great resolve to fight off all challengers and forge clear over the closing stages. The 3-year-old filly was never headed after breaking from barrier seven in an eight-horse field.

Easybaby was winner No. 14 for Eavesdropper in 2009 with the young stallion’s oldest US-bred progeny still only 3-year-olds.
