SON
OF SECRET
SAVINGS SCORES FOR DARLEY
JUNE ’08:
The unmistakable maroon and
white colours of Sheikh Mohammed
al Maktoum were carried to
victory by a son of Secret
Savings (USA) when Caymans
scored an impressive victory
at Randwick on only his second
racecourse appearance.
An
eye-catching runner-up on
debut, Caymans was sent out
an odds-on favourite for a
$70,000 Open 2YO event at Sydney’s
headquarters and romped home
by a clear three and a half
lengths winning margin.
Caymens
is raced by Darley Australia
and is held in high regard
by the Australian-arm of the
world’s
biggest racing and breeding
concern. Speaking on behalf
of the outfit in his new
senior management capacity,
Trevor Lobb said: “He’s
a lovely horse and has been
since he was a foal. He’ll
go out now and come back
for the carnival.”
Secret
Savings is enjoying an outstanding
2008 with horses of the calibre
of Swiss Ace, Acorns, Cent
Per
Cent, Viatorian and now Caymens
among his racing progeny
since
the beginning of the year.
In
addition, his progeny sold
to
$425,000 at the Inglis Select
Yearling Sale, while his
maternal
grandson from Salameh was
this
year’s
highest priced yearling
fetching $2.7 million. . |
