AL MAHERS FETCH UP TO $300,000

MARCH 2008: Yearlings from the first yearling crop of Al Maher fetched upto $300,000 at the 2008 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, the first public auction at which the progeny of this exciting first season stallion have been offered in Australia.

Presented as Lot 405, a bay colt from the Geiger Counter (USA) mare Cosmic Beam went to sale under the Swettenham Stud banner and left the venue the property of Mick Price, who went to $300,000 to secure the youngster.

Also sold with great success was Lot 81 of the Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, a bay colt from the unraced Hennessy (USA) mare Penn. Presented for sale by Woodlawn Park of Ngambie, the youngster attracted a successful bid of $220,000 from McDonald Racing VIC.

So far into the 2008 Australasian Yearling Sale series, first crop progeny of Al Maher have fetched $300,000 and $220,000 in Melbourne, and $NZ170,000 at Karaka.

Moreover, purchasers of Al Maher stock include the acclaimed horsemen Mick Price, Ross McDonald and Laurie Laxon, as well as a representative of the Bart Cummings stable.
